Dekkoh ("island child") is run by Koh Phangan local, Isa. She grew up on the island, climbing trees, playing in streams, and biking to school. Later in life she had the opportunity to study Philosophy and Art abroad. In 2023, she graduated top-of-class with a Masters in Fine arts from LASALLE College in Singapore. She works in a range of media, and usually explores human relationships with nature.
Though Koh Phangan is changing rapidly, it is still filled with nature. Isa hopes that it can stay that way, and that is why she wants share the places and stories that make this island special. Through art, we will take time to appreciate these things together.
Discover Koh Phangan with a local guide and create your own unique artwork.
- Be introduced to a location with local significance. This may be a watering hole, a forest, a beach, a farm.
- Learn about local histories of that place through storytelling from locals.
- Forage for objects to create your postcard with, while learning about the ethics foraging.
- Return to Dekkoh Studio where you will learn how to create your own cyanotype print.
- Have a refreshing local drink.
- Have a lovely postcard to keep or send.
In total, the tour and workshop will be around 4.5 hours. The cost, materials included, is 1,200 baht per person.
In this workshop you will:
Cyanotype is a unique photographic printing process that produces images using sunlight. By applying a light-sensitive solution to paper or fabric, you can create beautiful prints by placing objects on the surface and exposing them to UV light. The result is a striking, one-of-a-kind artwork that captures the essence of nature.
